What is CPCI?

Christian Parenting and Caregivers Initiative

Mission Statement:

To encourage parents and caregivers of children and teens in their moral, spiritual, and interpersonal growth, offering a Christian perspective through small group conversations, public media, outreach, and community events and activities.

St. Luke’s United Methodist Church


Peer Groups meet together one time a month; after forming each group will decide on meeting time and place, and online access,

Depending on need, childcare will be provided or a stipend given for your own childcare.

Each Peer Group will choose topics discussed. Most importantly, these Peer Groups are a safe, non-judgmental space for healthy discussions.

Mother of four and grandmother of eleven,

Dr. Susan Buttross is Professor Emeritus and former Chief of the Division of Child Development and Pediatrics at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC). She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP) and is board certified in Pediatrics and Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics.

Dr. Buttross served as the Director of the Child Development Clinic at UMMC for 26 years and continues to advocate for children in a variety of arenas. She has been the host of MPB’s Tuesday edition of Southern Remedy, “Relatively Speaking” for the last 11 years.
